Your next stop is the Eagle Theater. This building is a replica of the first building constructed specifically as a theater in California. The current Eagle Theater is an element of what is known as “The 1849 Scene”, one of Sacramento’s most historic areas.
The story of the original Eagle Theater could easily serve as a backdrop for a modern Hollywood drama. In it’s first quarter of operations, The Eagle hosted traveling minstrels, lonely miners, went through four bankruptcies, and changed ownership three times. The original structure was destroyed a year later in a flood.
